Fall 2011

This past spring, for the second year in a row, ATTW sponsored its Research Methods Workshops in conjunction with the ATTW Conference in Atlanta.  Hosted by George Pullman on the campus of George State University, the half-day workshops attracted participants from across the country interested in developing more sophisticated research skills.  Chris Haas from the University of Minnesota joined by Chad Wickham of Auburn University to lead the workshop on Building Conceptual Structures from Qualitative Data.  Jeff Grabill from the University put participants through their paces in the workshop on Research Practices in Action Research.

Next year’s Research Methods Workshops will be held in St. Louis on Tuesday afternoon, March 20, the day preceding the ATTW conference (March 21).  Hosting will be Paul Lynch of St. Louis University.  This year’s offerings will include:

To encourage graduate student participation, ATTW makes available ten scholarships of $200 to help defray the cost of the workshop and hotel. Participation in these workshops is awarded on a competitive basis and constitutes a place on the ATTW program.

To apply for a place in one of these workshops, complete the application form and send it along with a 1-page description of your project to cgeisler@sfu.ca. Applications are due October 15, 2011 and acceptances will emailed by December 1, 2011.

Questions about these workshops can be directed to Cheryl Geisler (cgeisler@sfu.ca), Chair of the ATTW Committee on Research.
